Having seen so many beautiful builds last weekend on various different budgets at The Bikeshed Event, it is nice to see a major manufacturer doing a build with such taste. I hope they make this, I really do.

Sprit-ed

The sun sets on an amazing show. TBC…

Triumph 675 by Spirit of the Seventies. I can’t tell you how beautiful this bike is.

UMC in the house. Adam’s menagerie of Bavarian goodness.

This is just the car park. Amazing turnout #bikeshed.cc event

Ducati Superlight site

Tim from Spirit nudged me in the direction of this site and now I spend too much time trawling their facebook pages. Nice to chat to other FE owners and there are some lovely bikes on the site. Well worth a gander if you have a hankering for Ducati Superlights.

FWR Tyres

The tyres that came with the 900ss were, to put it mildly, shite. I never had any confidence in them and I swore that as soon as the warmer weather arrived I’d get something decent on the bike. I was all set to try the Maxxis Supermaxx for looks, some good feedback from a mate and for budget reasons.

I popped in on my way in to work one morning and bumped into an old colleague who quickly put me off the Maxxis and pushed me in the direction of the Michelin Pilot Road 3s. I’m glad he, and the guys at FWR, persuaded me to do so as they’ve given me a new found confidence in all conditions and especially corners where the outgoing BT020s gave me the willies big time.

To cut a long story short, they guys fitted my tyres and sent me on my way but they’d not tightened up the speedo mount in the hub and it ripped the cable from the back of the speedo mount and snapped the cable by the hub. It was an easy mistake to make, but I was really impressed with how they bent over backwards to fix it and get it back to me asap. They have the sort of service you hope to find in a garage but so frequently don’t.

I shall be a repeat customer.

The last time I saw my Bonneville it looked something like the above. For the last two months it’s been nestling in the pig shed at Spirit of the Seventies. I’d got to the point where I’d done a few bits and bobs to it but lacked the nerve and the skill to have a go at the wiring loom and to cut the subframe up myself. I’d been buying up speedos, bars, switches and realised that without the space in London I was never going to do this myself so off I popped to Spirit had a quick natter with Tim over a brew and a plan was hatched.

I hear it’s going well and I’ve seen a pic of the Koso D64 in place next to the easton bars but that’s all. The first time I’m going to see it is this weekend at our bikeshed.cc event in Shoreditch

I hope to see some of you down there…
